Cancellations and Transfers
SEP Open Enrollment Electives Cancellations and Transfers (In-Person & Live Online)
All cancellation and transfer notifications must be sent in writing via email directly to Jennifer Malone at jm5483@gsb.columbia.edu. The limit of cancellation and transfer requests per SEP participant is one (1) time only and must be completed during the elective period allotted. No exceptions will be allowed. All requests for cancellations and transfers must be made more than 31 days prior to a program start date. Columbia Business School reserves the right for final program decisions, and we cannot guarantee that your future program selection will be your first choice of program or format. Due to program preparation and administration costs for the open enrollment electives, any cancellations or requests for transfers received 30 days or less before the program start date may not be granted. Should a transfer be granted, or a cancellation requested 30 days or less prior to the start of the program, CSBEE will apply the following cancellation and transfer fee. All fees would be paid directly to Columbia Business School Executive Education.

Travel and Visas
Columbia Business School Executive Education is not responsible for matters or costs related to travel or visas under any circumstances. Participants may want to consider purchasing trip cancellation insurance in the unlikely event that a program is cancelled, or they cannot attend for personal or professional reasons. Visa denials or delays do not warrant a refund or waiver of late notice fees.
Eligibility
Columbia Business School Executive Education (CBSEE), at its sole discretion, reserves the right to limit enrollments at any time, regardless of acceptance status. Individuals who have paid tuition but are deemed ineligible to participate due to such enrollment limitations, including violations of our Code of Conduct, may receive a refund at the discretion of CBSEE.
Attendance Status
Participants are expected to complete all sessions of a program in order to earn their certificate of attendance. Any missed sessions may result in forfeiting the receipt of the certificate and/or a deduction of credits towards a Certificate in Business Excellence.
SEP Open Enrollment Elective Program
Participants attending a Senior Executive Program (SEP) will have the choice of completing one (1) Open Enrollment Program as part of their overall program journey, except for the Strategic Wealth Manager Program. This Open Enrollment program will be included as part of their overall program fee. Columbia Business School Executive Education has the sole discretion to determine which Open Enrollment programs are eligible for the SEP Open Enrollment Elective for each SEP and associated cohorts. Not all programs are eligible and Columbia Business School Executive Education cannot guarantee that a desired elective program will be offered in the future.
SEP Open Enrollment Elective Preferences
Participants making selections as part of their Open Enrollment Elective (Component) of the SEP program design will have a period of seven (7) days to complete their Open Enrollment preference selections after they are released to them. While Columbia Business School Executive Education will attempt to accommodate participant preference selections, we cannot guarantee that all program preferences will be granted due to the high demand for our Open Enrollment programs. Seats are available on a first come, first served basis, and Columbia Business School Executive Education reserves the sole discretion to cap seats on any Open Enrollment program. If participant preferences are unable to be accommodated, Columbia Business School Executive Education will offer alternative Open Enrollment Program Options to support participants in satisfying their Open Enrollment Elective (Component) of the SEP journey. Participants that do not submit their preferences to the Emeritus Program Delivery Team by the end of the seven (7) day period will be enrolled into the remaining Open Enrollment Programs with availability at the full discretion of Columbia Business School Executive Education.
Certificate in Business Excellence Pathway
Strategic Wealth Manager Program
Participants attending the Strategic Wealth Manager Program will earn 13 Certificate in Business Excellence credits upon completion of their program. To complete the Certificate in Business Excellence, all Strategic Wealth Management Program participants must complete an additional 5 Certificate in Business Excellence credits within a four-year period.
Two paths exist:
Program No-Show
Participants that do not attend a scheduled program and who do not provide written notification of their cancellation to Columbia Business School Executive Education prior to the program start date will forfeit their right to attendance in the program. Participants who do not complete all requirements of their Senior Executive Program (SEP) journey, including the attendance of the Open Enrollment Elective will not be eligible to receive the Certificate in Business Excellence.
If a participant does not attend their scheduled program for any reason, they may at Columbia Business School’s sole discretion, be able to pay the full Open Enrollment Elective program fee and attend their missed program, or another Open Enrollment program. In all cases, participants must attend an Open Enrollment program in full receive the programming credit needed to earn the Certificate in Business Excellence as part of their SEP course journey. In all instances, the new program must be hosted within the Elective Period for the eligible participant. If a candidate is not able to attend the new program within their Elective Period, they will lose the ability to earn their Certificate in Business Excellence.
Program Incompletion
Participants are required to attend and complete all requirements of their Open Enrollment program. Participants who fail to attend all required sessions/days of an Open Enrollment program will not receive credit for attending the program – this includes participants who leave programs early or who miss any portion of a program experience to any degree, and especially any absences not pre-approved by Columbia Business School Executive Education.
If a participant does not complete all required sessions of their Open Enrollment program, they may at Columbia Business School’s sole discretion, be able to pay the full Open Enrollment Elective program fee and attend their missed program, or another Open Enrollment program in the future. In all cases, participants must attend an Open Enrollment program in order to receive the programming credit needed to earn the Certificate in Business Excellence as part of their SEP course journey. In all instances, the new program must be hosted within the Elective Period for the eligible participant. If a candidate is not able to attend the new program within their Elective Period, they will lose the ability to earn their Certificate in Business Excellence.
Certificate in Business Excellence
In order for a participant to earn their Certificate in Business Excellence by attending a Senior Executive Program, they must a) successfully attend and comply with all aspects of their program structure, including completing all components of their Core, Online Electives, and Open Enrollment Elective program choices, b) complete all program assignments in the time-frame given under the program design, c) adhere to the attendance status policy, d) adhere to the cancellation and transfer policy for all segments of their program journey as appropriate.
Location
While we make every effort for our programs to take place on campus, some programs may run off campus in New York City. Columbia Business School Executive Education reserves the right to change the program location at any time, including converting the modality from In-Person to Live Online if operational needs merit such a change. Program location changes do not merit a refund.
Permission to Use Materials
All content or other materials available on the online learning platform, including but not limited to code, images, text, layouts, arrangements, displays, illustrations, audio and video clips, HTML files and other content, are the property of Columbia Business School and/or its affiliates or licensors and are protected by copyright, patent, and/or other proprietary intellectual property rights under the United States and foreign laws. Columbia Business School grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Sites. You may download material from the Sites only for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not otherwise copy, reproduce, retransmit, distribute, publish, commercially exploit, or otherwise transfer any material, nor may you modify or create derivatives works of the material. The burden of determining that your use of any information, software, or any other content on the Site is permissible rests with you.
Modifications to Site
Columbia Business School reserves the right, for any reason or no reason, in our sole discretion and without notice, to terminate, change, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Site, including without limitation, information, data, text, music, sound, photographs, graphics, video, messages, courses, Materials, features, and/or hours of availability, and we will not be liable to you or to any third party for doing so. We may also impose rules and limits on the use of the Site or restrict your access to part, or the entire, Site without notice or penalty.
Programs Policies
All Columbia Business School Executive Education programs are taught, moderated, and administered in English. To receive a rewarding experience, including rich interaction with faculty and fellow participants, proficiency in written and spoken English is essential.
If English is your second language, or if you have less than one year of experience in an English-speaking work environment, Columbia Business School Executive Education may request documentation of proficiency in conversational and written English for your benefit.
Acceptable documentation could include:
- Degrees earned at English-speaking colleges and universities
- A list of English-language certification programs completed
- Results of tests such as the TOEIC® – Test of English for International CommunicationTM exam
Our Learning Solutions Specialists also may request a telephone interview.
In Person and Live Online Programs – Participant Guest Policy
For all In Person or Live Online open enrollment programs, to ensure that all participants can focus on the program sessions, assignments, and group work, Columbia Business School Executive Education participants are asked not to bring spouses, family members, or any non-enrolled participants to the program. Only enrolled participants will be allowed access to the classroom, facilities, and program-relevant spaces. No childcare or related accommodations for guests are available while participants are pursuing programs.
Photo and Video Release
Program applicants and event registrants grant Columbia Business School permission to use their likeness in photograph(s) and videography in any and all of its publications and in any and all other media, whether now known or hereafter existing, controlled by Columbia University, in perpetuity, and for other use by the University. I will make no monetary or other claim against Columbia Business School for the use of the interview and/or the photograph(s) and videography.

Columbia Business School Executive Education respects the right for every participant to have a safe and effective learning environment.
Participants are expected to demonstrate professionalism and courtesy in interactions with all faculty, staff, and fellow program participants. This includes, but is not limited to, email, in-person, social media, Slack and Zoom communications, both written and verbal.
Violation of this policy may result in removal from any Columbia Business School Executive Education program, now and in the future.
