What inspired you to return to Columbia Business School and take the executive education program after completing your MBA?
My intellectual curiosity drove me back to Columbia Business School. I wanted to deepen my understanding of the transformative potential of generative AI in business and gain the insights and leadership skills needed to advance the organizational change that underpins sustainable transformation.
What are your thoughts on the new home for Columbia Business School, Manhattanville campus?
The modern, inviting atmosphere of the Manhattanville campus, equipped with cutting-edge technology, created an ideal learning environment. The intuitive layout and ample space for individual and group study were impressive and conducive to our engagement and collaboration.
What was your overall experience of the Business of AI program?
The program truly demystified AI for me. It provided deep insights into cutting-edge technologies and their practical applications across various business disciplines. I learned about prompt engineering strategies, built a toolkit to critically assess AI business offerings, and developed strategies for implementing AI solutions in real-world scenarios while considering bias and ethical implications.
Aside from the course content, I was impressed by my classmates’ diversity, coming from places like Albania, Brazil, Colombia, London, Nigeria, Mexico, Morocco, Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, and even the Upper West Side.
Moreover, networking with peers and program faculty brought unique perspectives and expertise from diverse fields such as Tech, Consulting, Data Science, Education, Finance, Food/Beverage, Government, Healthcare, Law, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Retail. The global representation reinforced that AI's impact truly knows no borders.
Can you highlight three key takeaways from your time in the program?
Certainly! First, the significant influence of neuroscience on generative AI technology was an eye-opener. Secondly, understanding the overlapping nature of stakeholders in the AI ecosystem was pivotal. Lastly, the emphasis on regulatory and ethical considerations in AI applications stood out as critical for future implementations.
The program included unique company visits to WPP and News Corp. How did these outings enhance your learning experience?
These visits were instrumental in understanding how a comprehensive generative AI strategy could be a competitive advantage. Observing real-world applications of AI strategies helped solidify my understanding of their potential impact.
Can you talk about how personal and group consultations added value to your understanding of Generative AI?
Meeting with faculty and program directors outside the classroom was incredibly beneficial. These consultations allowed me to delve deeper into the practical business applications of AI, influencing my strategic decision-making.
After taking this program, do you feel more prepared to lead and innovate at work?
Absolutely! The program prepared me to harness AI for driving innovation, modernizing organizational culture, infrastructure, and systems, and understanding the key factors contributing to successful AI applications. The Business of AI program equipped me with the knowledge, tools, and insights needed to spearhead AI-driven innovation and sustainable transformation, considering regulatory, geopolitical, and ethical implications.
Reflecting on your journey, what advice would you offer to fellow alumni considering Executive Education?
Lifelong learning is a personal commitment for me. I encourage fellow Columbia Business School alumni to enhance their leadership and business skills.
